International Women's Day

This past Friday was International Women's Day and I was absolutely floored by the posts I saw on my personal social media sites. My Instagram was flooded with my friends and celebrities I follow celebrating their womanhood. I was so proud that these amazing women were my friends. A friend from Loyola posted herself in her home country of Ecuador displaying her fierceness and strength. Another friend posted this picture below of her self with the caption reading "empowered women empower women".
Her shirt and this photo say it all as she is at Syracuse's School of Law and motivated by successful and powerful women in law. I am where I am at because of all of the powerful women that came before and are currently working for my rights.

This made me think about the inspirational women that are in my life and were some of my greatest role models. Of course, my own mother is on that list but also past teachers and professors that altered the way I think about things and the woman I am today. We have so much work to do every day to ensure that our next generation is stronger than how we left it. Seeing all of these posts on Friday made me realize we are doing a fantastic job and we need to continue this for the years to come.

  1. I love that you have women in your life that you can look up to and find guidance! I think having this believe is a great strength, especially if you can pass it along to your future students. My question to you would be how do you think having these supports through other women will help you out as a teacher?

    1. Hi Colleen! I believe I have such great support systems in my life and they truly propel me to be the best support I can be for another person. I hope to bring that into my classroom every single day. I have such strong women really conquering the world right now that I cannot wait to boast about all of them to anyone I meet. Spreading people's stories can always spark new adventures for anyone!

  2. Yes!! I to loved seeing all the social media posts about empowering women. It was so cool to see other women celebrate each other. I myself posted a picture on my Instagram of me and my 4 best friends from high school who I still talk to every single day. Last Friday really was awesome seeing all the love around the world to woman everywhere.
